This challenge is called Coffee. We’ll approach five sets of girls sitting in a restaurant or cafe, tackling the fear of approaching closed areas, other people’s reactions, and rejection. We’ll experience the fear and see how little people care around us. Our mantra is “the moment I said hi, I already won” and we’ll try to be PC and calibrated. There’s a lot of pressure points coming together, but let’s go!

Maximilian and I Met in New York

I saw you and had to say hi. You’re super attractive. I noticed the camera guy trying to zoom in on another girl. I was like, “Shit, which one did he mean?” I’m sorry I had to sit down here. My name is Max. What do you do? I have German ancestors, so I like German music. Do you have Instagram? It’s a Google Pixel. How long have you and your boyfriend been together? We’ve been dating since September. Maximilian. Nice to meet you too. Bye. Maximilian and I met in New York. He’s from Italy and is traveling with his family. We talked about his mom and sister, and he told me he has a boyfriend in Italy. We said goodbye, but he said he might remember me.

The Moment I Said Hi, I Already Won

Hi. Excuse me. Do you speak English? Yes. All right, okay. I’m Max. You have a hardcore handshake. Are you from New York? Yeah. Cool. What do you do? How long have you guys been together? I wish you a great day. I hope I can bring some smile on your face. Goodbye. See you guys. I love that.

He saw that we saw the free-stream. The girl was looking at the guys and had to acknowledge it was awkward. She was trying to keep her social face and not be slut-shamed. Max introduced himself and asked what she did. She said she was unemployed and he asked her age. She guessed he was 30 and he said he was 26. Max asked if she wanted to touch his beard for luck. He said he was in a rush and they exchanged numbers. He asked where she was from and she said Austria. He said he had been there before.

I just saw you and had to say hi. You’re very attractive. I’m Max. Nice to meet you. I guess I’ll just leave you on your phone with your husband then. Thanks you too. Bye-bye. Well, look at her reaction. Look how it made her day.

The Challenge Was a Success

I asked for numbers 20 times and even though there were other people around, I didn’t feel much resistance. I was blunt and added an extra layer of empathy, which made them smile and brought them out of their everyday life. Even though half of them were married, I still kept going for the challenge. I wasn’t giving my best game-wise and I wouldn’t have tried to get out as quickly as possible. The challenge was a success and I’m proud of myself.
